This is my first time out with Ken and Cold Creek Studios. I have a fair amount of photography experience and was looking to get out and shoot and see what I could learn. I took the ISO/low light workshop to start with. I have shot low light and night scenes before. With Ken, I learned that while I know how to capture light trail, I really was not focusing on composition and control of my images. Ken pushed me to see how my images can improve and to think more about my camera control. I was very impressed and look forward to taking more workshops in the future.
I learned alot about what my camera can do. Up to this point it's just been a fancy point and shoot. I am looking forward to more of your classed.
It was very easy to understand the topics that Ken discussed, he is a great teacher.
This was an AMAZING course. Ken believes that terrific pix start in the camera, not on the computer, so in 2 hours, with individual attn, we were able to really EXPERIENCE the difference with ISO, shutter speed, and F stops. I loved the small class size, the casual, yet informative presentation style, the ability to ask questions along the way. Would totally recommend to anyone who wants to move away from 'auto' and enhance their pix.
Ken made me feel like I almost understood my camera!!
Ken is a really good coach. Lets you progress at your own rate and is there to give good advice. Each one in the class can progress at their own rate and no one is held back or left behind.
thanks.
A lot of fun, and really helpful.
Although Ken covered a lot of material, crucial to basic understanding of how to photograph with a DSLR, he was succinct and gave us ample opportunity to actually see the results of different settings.
Great info and great way to teach it..
This was my first class with the new camera and it was the perfect amount of talking and experience. I really liked the overview of the three basic elements and can't wait to take the next class! nancy nilsson
I have had a dslr for years.I've read books, watched videos, and searched the Internet for tips and tricks on how to get the most from my camera. Nothing so far has come close to what I got out of this class. I learned so much! Ken was nice, knowledgeable, and explained and taught things in a manner that made it easier to grasp. It was great to be able to go out and shoot from my own camera, enhancing the learning process. This workshop was worth every penny. I would definitely recommend his workshops and I look forward to taking more classes from him!
I really enjoyed this workshop. Ken did a great job explaining all of the technical details in a way that we could all understand. He was patient, informative, personable and I will definitely take more of his classes!
very informative and made the class fun
Ken is awesome and patient
I loved the hands on attention I received. Going to take more classes from them.
I loved that we were able to get real experience using our cameras. I have taken other classes where they talked a lot about the theory but we didn't get to actually try the theory with the camera.
The photo lesson what great! The instructor was very informative and help me learn to use he Manual setting more confidently.
Ken is such a great teacher. We learned all sort of fun things to do with our camera and the Christmas lights. If you haven't done a workshop you Ken you are really missing out on a great time
Over the past couple of years I have taken several "outing" type classes/workshops and this was by the far the most informative and hands on by the instructor. Ken really took time with each member of the group and explained in detail how to make your shot better and how to use your camera to get the shot you had in mind. I really appreciated all of his time and will be taking more of his workshops.
Excellent step by step instructions using any SLR camera: ios, shutter speed, and aperature. Loved it!
This was a great experience. Wheeler Farm was the perfect setting. And I learned a ton about my camera and how to take pictures in different types of settings. I highly recommend this workshop.
Ken was very patient, explained things well, and was engaging. Thank you!
everyone was very kind and helpfull.
I finally learned the basics about my camera and feel prepared to experiment. Ken was patient, clear with his explanations, and very willing to assist with all questions. I plan to take more of his courses! I had a great morning in his class!
Easy and Great!
Ken is the greatest teacher . He takes his time with you and his group are always small for personal attention. Don't miss a workshop with Ken you won't regret it
I learn a lot in the two hours, I would definitely take more classes.
Loved it! Very informative! Thank you so much! :)
I was sad the fall colors weren't better. But I was amazed at what Ken could help me get when the colors weren't amazing. So while Mother Nature kind of disappointed me, the workshop itself was definitely helpful!
I appreciated the way Ken took time with each member of the workshop, especially with all of our different cameras. I liked that we had hands on experiences with our cameras and not just verbal teaching.
One on One really getting to know how to REALLY use my camera to take the creative pictures I want.
Ken is patient and thorough in explaining things. He makes you feel comfortable and confident that you will be able to take great pictures. I am definitely looking forward to taking some of his other classes.
I loved the hands on approach!
One on One, it was great to finally get a handle on all those settings on my camera. Now I feel like I can put my camera on Manual and actually be able to take a decent picture and also know what to do if it wasn't quite what I was hoping for.
This was a great experience for my daughter - she loved it and cannot wait to do some more workshops ;)
I really enjoyed the Wheeler Farm photography class. I love the hands on and being able to see the how's and why's when shooting on manual. Thank you for taking the time to answer all my questions. After learning the three basic steps, I felt confident enough to go off of auto. Looking forward to taking additional classes.
Cindy
I learned so much and am so excited to now take some really great photos.
Thank you!!
This was a wonderful class in which I enjoyed and have increased knowledge and respect towards my camera. Ken has profound skills as an instructor. His method of teaching is impeccable. Most importantly, he was able to accomplish and convey a condense version of operating a camera from what I considered a great amount of information. Thank you, Ken. I plan to take more of your classes in the future. Carmen Harris
Great intro to your camera when you know little! I learned how to play in manual mode and learned more about my flash. Wheeler farm is a great venue! Would have been nice to take more images of animals/go over some basics of composition. Ken is friendly and very knowledgeable!!!! You won't be disappointed.
i really enjoyed the class - ken was very patient and took the time to help each one of us individually to ensure we were familiar with what he was teaching on each of our own cameras. i'm looking forward to attending more of the classes he has to offer!!
Excellent instruction and trouble shooting. Concise, simple and repetition of main points for best retention.
I loved the class being small and outdoors. Small, so you could ask questions, get the one on one attn., showing how to make changes on the camera, etc.
Outdoors, so you when you're taking pictures, you get the real idea of what your pictures could look like.
Ken was very helpful and approachable. I'm looking forward to taking another class.
The instruction was spot on for getting beyond the use of "auto". Ken's hands on approach and knowledge of navigating the various camera menu's was helpful to all of the participants. Covering the three basics and their interaction was presented in a way that was more simplistic and understandable than reading the same in the instruction books included with the cameras. He did not hesitate to provide individual help where necessary and had the patience to lead those who needed it. Additional classes will definitely be on my agenda in the near future.
One suggestion would be to provide directions on where the class will meet. Wheeler Farm is a large facility and there were numerous photo sessions being held which caused some confusion as to who we were meeting.
This was my third workshop with Ken and by far, my favorite. He used a lot of repetition so I was eventually able to correctly determine my own camera settings for the scenes we were shooting. We looked at the various ways the different settings changed the results and discussed why I might want to apply different settings in different circumstances. This was the first time I was able to take a good picture in a low light setting in manual mode. Highly recommended!
Details like exactly where we were to meet at Wheeler farm were a little vague, however the workshop was exactly what it was billed as. Instructor was knowledgeable, approachable, and I left feeling I had spent my money well.
excellent class, great explanations and loved the hands on traning
Learned a lot, instructor was was great. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone who wants to learn more about photography.
Really enjoyed the class! It was great to get hands on experience. It was a fun group and Ken was helpful and knowledgeable but able to explain things in a way we could all understand :)
Ken is a great instructor. I learned so much and can't wait to take more workshops. Thanks for a great experience.
I really enjoyed the class. I didn't know a lot about my camera and having him go through the simple things to know about your camera to then showing you how to use the camera made me excited about getting out and taking pictures. It was a good class.
I loved that our class was small
I meet with Ken today, and to my surprise I was the only person that was attending the class. Most teachers would of cancelled the class until they had a couple of interested parties not Ken. He told me he enjoys his one on one classes..
First thing we did was review what I had learned in my previous class, and from there move on. He spent the time going over my gear and walked me through using features of my camera that I had not yet explored. Ken is very knowledgeable about his craft, and and his hands on approach to teaching makes it easy for everyone to grasp what is being taught.
This is my 2nd class with Ken and will not be my last.
Thanks Ken for your time and the knowledge that I parted with.
I learned a ton and had fun too. Thanks Ken!
Ken was great. I learned so much, and his patience was muchly appreciated.
Very thorough, and was sure to spend quality time w/ each student so that each understood the concepts.
The workshop was well worth the money I spent. I learned a lot about my camera and how to use in in manual mode which were my two goals. I look forward to future workshops with Ken.
We just bought a new camera, and this workshop was the perfect introduction to its settings, etc. Loved it. Thank you!
Great class, great instructor. Appreciated the fact that the class was small so the instructor was able to spend one on one time with each person making it an individual experience. Am looking forward to attending more classes.
I'm a complete novice and I learned a lot in this beginning SLR workshop. Ken is an excellent instructor and he clearly explained processes and topics and reviewed. We got to do a lot. If you have never used your camera or learning about a new camera, I suggest you bring your manual. I would recommend this workshop to a friend.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed your class. Thanks for your patience
Ken was great! I learned a lot about my camera and it was very helpful!
I had a great time today and learned so much! It was a great hands on experience and I left feeling a lot more comfortable being able to try fun new things on my camera! He was great at explaining things on a level that I could understand! Thanks!
The workshop was great! I hope to sign up for the 2nd basic workshop soon
I found the class very informative. Real practical information on manual use of my camera. After years of avoiding using my camera on the manual mode, I am now ready to begin a whole new experience with my camera.
The workshop was wonderful! Ken did a great job of making things basic for us. I love how he explained a concept to us then had us practice is before we moved on. As he introduced each new concept, he did a recap of what we had already studied. That was really helpful! I feel like I learned so many new things I wanted to learn and so many things that will help me be a better photographer! Thanks, Ken!
Best $39 I've ever spent. Ken was great. I left feeling like I had just finished an entire semester of a photography class in 2 hours!
Although we experiences a rainy cold morning, it didn't impact how much we learned. We learned so many of the important basic foundation building things necessary to runs a dslr camera. Thanks for the great class!
Excellent class. Thank you!
I had a very good time at the workshop. Learned about and used many features on my camera that I had never used, or even knew about before.
It was a wonderful class. It was great to be able to take the pictures and really see what was being taught. It made me love my camera all over again.
The class was very informative and helpful. I felt that we moved along at just the right pace. Looking forward to taking more classes
Great class hands on really helped to understand what I had only previously read about.
I had a great experience and it helped me to learn the basics of my camera! I can now start working on improving my photography! Thanks!
Knows a lot about a lot of different cameras. Down to earth, easy to follow and ask questions to. I very much enjoyed the class and plan to come back for class # 2
Thank you,
Justin
I liked the workshop very much. Taking pictures at many different settings was very beneficial to me.
Thanks again
I learned so much, and had a great time. Very helpful and pleasant to work with.
I thoroughly enjoyed my workshop with Ken this morning. It was really good for me to have the camera in my hand and go through changing the settings right then. Taking the same picture with different settings also helped me to understand how f-stop, shutter speed and iso all work together. And of course Wheeler Farm is gorgeous.
The class was informative, wish there would have been more picture taking to apply what you learned, but overall a great class.
This was a great class as an introduction to manual settings on my dSLR. I had played around with the settings a little bit on my own, but Ken explained things really clearly and the way he had us practice on each setting was really effective in helping us see exactly what changing that setting could do.
Great workshop, highly recommend it!
Thanks Ken. That was a great class and exactly what I was looking for.
Cory Levetan
Great workshop!! Hands on and super friendly teaching style! I walked away with knowledge and experience using my camera in new settings. Ken was patient and knowledgable. Such a fun class. I look forward to learning more from Cold Creek Studios and Ken!
