It is in your best interest to receive the vaccination as soon as possible due to the robust protection provided against the virus responsible for 4,159,709 worldwide deaths, including 626,658 deaths here in the U.S. as of July 23, 2021. The 15 minute observation window is in place to allow healthcare workers to monitor for anaphylactic reactions (which are incredibly rare at just 0.002%) and response kits are required at vaccination sites to counter the effects of that reaction.---
